Going to be honest, I’m not really into this new side of Hiroko. The whole overtly horny gremlin schtick doesn’t work for someone like her. Even the minor teasing she did with Kisuke wasn’t that extreme or constant. Feels like a rewritten trait added in after the comic became PG13 when it decided to soft reboot itself.

I can understand your viewpoint!- I also respect it. It’s certainly a marked change from her previous demeanor—she’s been through a lot, to be sure, and people can change a lot in relatively short periods of time, especially in response to trauma. With that being said, I’d like to think that there’s more to her than meets the eye, and a story that hasn’t yet been fully told.

I will concede there is a heightened sense of overt horniness with her, you’re not wrong. But it’s cloying, isn’t it? Somewhat over the top, right? Noticeable? Almost à mask, you could say, on top of the bubbly, cheeky but quiet Hiroko we met in a Chapter 1?

I’m honored you’ve stuck with Trapfinders so far; I’m excited to see what you think of it when things really get going.

Thank you for your honesty and candor – and thank you for reading! I won’t let you down!

After finally catching up (because I didn’t have many pages left to begin with) I still don’t see the new trait of hers as a natural coping mechanism. Not at all. Hiroko’s lustfulness doesn’t pair well with her trauma over the two years between the events of chapters 4 and 5, and seeing it fully here comes off more like an easier excuse to have as many sex jokes as possible. Her making continuous lewd, flirtatious remarks and drooling over the guards of a rich estate are way more than cloying, especially when coming off her issues over her dead friend and how that caused her to dive further into life as a thief (and that’s not mentioning her relationship with Anna). There’s only so much a two-year time gap can justify such a new trait awkwardly thrown in for her character. It comes off more as a rewrite to a character after a soft reboot in the end post chapter 4.

Kisuke’s shift over those years didn’t feel as drastic in comparison, and he arguably had it worse since he was stabbed multiple times and turned into a vampire. Yet even with that, he still comes out more as around the same chipper dork, only having to wrestle with the fact he was abandoned by his friend after that event while dealing with his curse.

I really appreciate you continuing to read the story! I’m so excited for you to see where this is leading, and to see some of the reveals I’ve got in store – Yes, Hiroko’s lustfulness, drunkeness, and overall demeanor is quite different than how Kisuke is handling his own specific predicament and is absolutely not a natural coping mechanism. While the addition of some raunchier humor is one result of this, there’s a far more interesting core to it which is set to be revealed soon.

As I’m hoping you’ve seen in the more recent pages, there’s more to Hiroko than meets the eye. Her abilities are far more than that of an average thief; her accomplishments are more astounding than some simple burglar. There is a reason Hiroko is here, and there is a reason Hiroko is the way she is – I’m really excited to have you along for the ride, and I’m really looking forward to having you see the full scope of this weird fox girl’s heart.
